He Calls Her Jasmine by Ann Jacobs
Lady Joan has been shipped off to a convent where she is to be a bride to the church rather than the lusty knight she dreams of.
Rolfe de Vere, one of the king's knights has no intentions of wedding a nagging female, even if her dowry is impressive.
Riding to his brother's estate after a particularly noxious interview with a woman just like the sort he loathes, he comes upon a gang of brigands attempting to rape a young woman.
Dispatching them to their just desserts, he can't help notice her beauty and her sexual allure. Unable to recall her name when asked, Rolfe declares the woman to be Jasmine. Trapped by her beguiling ways, Rolfe decides to show Jasmine the way a man can please a woman and takes her to his home.
He Calls Her Jasmine was an interesting tale. Jasmine is both wanton and innocent, and accepts wholeheartedly the feelings of lust her rescuing knight inspires. Rolfe treats her kindly, but has no remorse about taking her maidenhead and introducing her to the pleasures he's learned about in the East.
The odd mixture of innocence and seduction at times jarred the historical feel of the novella set in a time when women weren't supposed to enjoy sex. Rest assured, Ann Jacobs delivers her trademark HAWT and Joan/Jasmine enjoys every bit of vaginal, anal, multi-partnered sex she has.
Discovering Jasmine's identity and violating the royal protocol taking her virginity created provide the skeleton of the plot. One of Ann's earlier works, you definitely get a feel for the historical setting, but wish for a bit more from the plot and the characters, who lust and eventually fall in love with one another.
He Calls Her Jasmine has the potential to make an excellent full length historical novel to rival those of Robin Schone.
