Lawrence has written books about writing including WRITING THE NOVEL FROM PLOT TO PRINT and TELLING LIES FOR FUN & PROFIT. He write a monthly column for Writer's Digest for 14 years. here's a snippet of what he has to say about that: "If there’s an explanation for the ongoing popularity of these books, I think it may lie in the fact that I haven’t tried to tell anybody how to do anything. I talk about some of the challenges I’ve faced at the keyboard and how I’ve responded, and share some things I’ve noted in the course of my own reading and writing. "
Lawrence's latest book is STEP BY STEP: A Pedestrian Memoir "... the book chronicles a year in the life of an aging and supremely unskilled racewalker, through marathons and 24-hour races." Sounds like fun.
Here's the reluctant bio from Lawrence Blocks's website: Lawrence Block's novels range from the urban noir of Matthew Scudder (All the Flowers are Dying) to the urbane effervescence of Bernie Rhodenbarr (The Burglar on the Prowl), while other characters include the globe-trotting insomniac Evan Tanner (Tanner on Ice) and the introspective assassin Keller (Hit and Run due June 24, 2008). He has published articles and short fiction in American Heritage, Redbook, Playboy, Cosmopolitan, GQ, and The New York Times, and 84 of his short stories have been collected in Enough Rope.
In 2004, he became executive story editor for the TV series TILT. Several of his novels have been filmed, though not terribly well. Rainbow Romance Writers - New RWA Chapter
Rainbow Romance Writers is the newest Special Interest Chapter within the Romance Writers of America. A lot of hard work has gone into setting us up as a chapter, but we are very proud to announce that writers specializing in LGBT romance now have a specific place to network with other career-focused writers and concentrate on our unique needs within the romance genre.
Our goals are:
* to promote excellence in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender romances * to help members become published in LGBT romances * to be an advocate within the industry for our genre * to be a resource to our members and others on writing and the publishing industry
We currently have 39 wonderful members who represent all different aspects of the LGBT romance genre.

He even included references to one of my other Roman-era tales, The Tortured Secutor, part of a two-story collection titled Let's Get Medieval, which I self-published for sale on Amazon.
And it all started with me trying to tell of an epic battle that changed the course of human history. Whew!

I've been writing for a long time. I started writing poetry when I was very young (like, seven) and progressed fairly quickly to short stories. I wrote my first full-length novel (horrid, by the way) when I was 17.
During high school, I won several writing competitions including national awards for history and mythology. I was also a national champion in Greek and Latin mythology. (See where the story ideas come from?)
I attended college in Tennessee, where I developed an overwhelming love for UT football. A one-act play I wrote for a master class while in college was produced - "Puppets".
It was only then that I realized my education did absolutely nothing for my immediate professional future. Given a choice between law school and summer stock theatre, I took theatre and remained in the acting/directing/designing profession for ten years. This career took me all over the eastern United States.
Eventually, however, I got tired of living other people's words (except for Shakespeare, naturally) and decided to try something different.
After a car accident that left me unable to work for three years (and left me with untold medical bills and a very successful disc replacement operation) I began reworking the first book I wrote. It has since developed into a projected ten-book high fantasy series, of which eight books are finished. (For those of you keeping count, that's about 2 million words) I also started a second mainstream project last year, a two-book dark fantasy series currently in rewrites.
I am married, live in southeastern Ohio, and have two teenaged daughters and many, many, many cats--one of whom is perched stubbornly on my lap as I try to write this. Just for kicks, their names are Satan, Impy, Dante, Gabriel, Pixie, Meowkovitch, Crookshanks, Volunteer, Elf, Muggle, Asphodel and Biscuit-the kitten. (obviously, those are the cats and not my daughters.)
In my spare time, all six hours of it a week, I enjoy reading, old Katharine Hepburn movies, new sci-fi/fantasy flicks, a mean game of euchre, numerous vodka martinis, (chilled, straight up, only a teensy splash of vermouth with both an olive and a lime wedge) and Rolling Rock beer.

Man wearing "I (Heart) My Marriage" t-shirt busted for domestic battery.
MARCH 16--A Florida man wearing an "I ♥ My Marriage" t-shirt was arrested last night for allegedly choking his wife during an argument in their Tampa-area home. Bradley Gellert, a 32-year-old financial consultant, was busted by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies and booked into jail on a felony domestic battery by strangulation charge. According to a police report, Gellert, pictured in the below mug shot, got into an argument with his wife and "screamed at the victim and threw numerous items." He then allegedly "grabbed the victim's neck and strangled her," which "prevented the victim from breathing normally." Gellert's wife subsequently fled the couple's Apollo Beach home and went to a nearby sheriff's office to report the incident. Investigators noted that the woman had been "taken to the ground by the arrestee and suffered an abrasion to her knee and red marks on her neck."
